Mr. Al Sahouti briefed the delegation on the nature of the QICDRC, its jurisdiction and its procedures. There followed a discussion on common issues regarding judicial matters and, in particular, the operation of courts.
Mr. Al Sahouti emphasised the importance of exchanging expertise between both countries in order to assist in the development of the legal and judicial infrastructure which will ultimately lead to the more effective delivery of access to the courts and justice.
Following the discussion, the delegation toured the QICDRC’s facilities, visiting the courtroom and ADR centre. The delegates were given a short lecture by Dr Zain Sharar, Senior Legal Counsel at the QICDRC, as to aspects of the Court’s jurisdiction, procedures and case management. Dr Sharar indicated, amongst other things, that the Court system at the QICDRC is based upon common law principles which are an attraction to international businesses that are looking for a forum that will determine cases efficiently, economically and justly.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the delegation thanked Mr. Al Sahouti for the opportunity to visit the QICDRC and commended the Court for its work.
