He added that the MoU also offers a unique opportunity to exchange expertise and visits between both entities.
Ms Fatima Abdulaziz Bilal, Director of the Legal and Judicial Studies Centre stressed the importance of the MoU, an initiative highly encouraged by His Excellency the Minister of Justice to build and establish legal organisations that offer the highest training standards. She explained that this MoU is the result of a long standing cooperation between the two entities that stems from the vital role the Courts play by providing the up-to-date judicial expertise to Qatar and the Middle East. She spoke about the important role the Centre plays in the field of legal training and education, and its role to educate and qualify the local Qatari talents through regular and mandatory-training sessions aimed towards researching and assistant judges and prosecutor agents. She reiterated the Centre’s commitment to building bridges with various law organisations in Qatar and partnerships with legal expertise centres and specialised institutions both in the region and abroad to position Qatar as a leader in legal training and development. Ms Abdulaziz also added that the Centre has signed numerous agreements for training and knowledge-sharing with various institutions including the High Council for the Judiciary in France and is in talks for similar agreements to be signed in the near future. She concluded by mentioning that the Centre is currently working to bring in judges and relevant experts to train legal Qatari professionals.
Professor Nada Jasim Al-Jabbar, Assistant Director of Legal and Judicial Studies Centre announced the launch of a first-of-its-kind seminar, which is the result of a joint initiative between the Legal and Judicial Studies Centre and QICDRC. She added that the session organised in partnership with BARBRI International Training Centre will begin tomorrow under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Justice, entitled “Training on Pleadings and Written Legal English” and will see Professor Gerald Lebovits from Columbia University and President of the US Supreme Court in New York as guest speaker. Professor Al-Jabbar added that the increased interest in such training sessions reflects their importance and saves legal professionals the time and effort to attend similar seminars abroad, a feeling shared by most participants.
