The Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre welcomes an official delegation from the DIFC Courts

December 08 2016
The Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (“QICDRC”) has welcomed a delegation from the DIFC Courts comprising Judge Ali Al-Medhani and Mr. Ahmed Al-Kamali, Head of International Relations.

The delegation was greeted by the QICDRC’s Judge Hassan Al Sayed and Enforcement Judge Rashid Al Badr. They discussed matters relating to the judicial systems in the Qatar Financial Centre (“QFC”) and DIFC, including the challenges faced by international judicial institutions and how to overcome them. In addition, whilst touring the QICDRC’s Alternative Dispute Resolution facilities, the delegation discussed matters pertaining to arbitration and mediation.

The Registrar of the Court- Mr. Christopher Grout- then escorted the delegation to the courtroom where he delivered a short presentation. Emphasis was placed on the QICDRC’s high calibre judiciary, its efficient case management and enforcement processes and its ability to operate virtually.

The visit was part of the ongoing relationship between the QICDRC and DIFC Courts which involves exchanging knowledge and experience on matters relating to case administration, especially in the context of resolving international commercial disputes. The legal framework of the QFC and the availability of recourse to the QICDRC has helped to establish Qatar as an international hub for business, thus assisting in diversifying the nation’s economy.
