The QICDRC marked World Autism Day by reaffirming its commitment to inclusion and accessibility. Through awareness initiatives, the Court highlighted the importance of equal opportunities and fostering a more inclusive legal and social environment for individuals with autism.
The QICDRC welcomed students from Qatar Leadership Center, offering them insight into the Court’s role in dispute resolution. The visit provided a firsthand experience of the QICDRC’s legal framework, judicial processes, and technological advancements, reinforcing its commitment to engaging future leaders in the legal sector.
On Women’s Judges Day, we acknowledged the need for greater female representation in the judiciary. Equal participation increases fairness, enriches decision-making, and bolsters trust in the justice system. This diversity also upholds core constitutional values and inspires public confidence in the rule of law.
The QICDRC took part in the Lusail Career Fair 2024, reaching out to aspiring professionals exploring careers in Qatar’s legal sphere. Representatives highlighted the QICDRC’s role in fostering dispute resolution and the importance of specialised courts in a growing economy. The initiative supports nurturing new talent and increasing legal career awareness.
The Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre was pleased to announce Thomas Williams from Sultan Al-Abdulla & Partners Law Firm as the winner of the 2023 Pro Bono Award, for his outstanding achievement and exceptional commitment to pro bono at the QICDRC. This Award recognises and celebrates the hard work and dedication demonstrated by Thomas Williams and Sultan Al-Abdulla & Partners Law Firm in volunteering their time and expertise to assist individuals with limited financial means.
The QICDRC observed International Day of Women Judges (10 March 2023) to honour the extraordinary contributions and accomplishments of women in the Qatari and international judiciary. Their incalculable influence on the legal system motivates us to persist in our pursuit of justice and equality.
As part of QICDRC’s commitment towards supporting educational institutions in Qatar, the Court welcomed a number of students from Qatar University’s College of Law program throughout 2022.
The students were offered insight into the role of the Court and its relationship with Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) institutions, businesses and individuals.
Students were also able to attend hearings at the Court, gaining a richer learning experience by understanding how theory translates to practice.
Earlier in the year, the QICDRC launched ‘Tawafuq’, the first coaching programme for legal professionals in Qatar, in collaboration with Takallam for Management Consultations. The year-round programme aims to empower legal professionals to achieve success, balance and wellbeing, both in the workplace and at home. It offers one-on-one coaching sessions, delivered by trained experts in the field, to encourage open communication and enhanced work-life balance.
Following the successful launch of its new Pro Bono Service, the Qatar International Court has awarded its inaugural Pro Bono Appreciation Award to Omani & Partners Law Firm LLP and Sultan Al-Abdulla & Partners.
Through its supervisory arbitrational jurisdiction under Law No 2 of 2017 issuing the Arbitration Law in Civil and Commercial Matters, parties can elect the QICDRC as the “Competent Court” of arbitration to perform various functions in relation to interim measures, enforcement of awards and appeals.
